Collecting Divas

Seems every gay man has a list of women he worships. Bigger than life, louder than words, ageless and timeless icons that men who like men fantasize about being like or are convinced that they would jump teams to tag ( or be tagged by).
Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Cher, and Bette Midler are but a few. There are many. Most of them are ancient. And I am unimpressed with most.
Isn't this a great photo of Pink? C'mon! Anyways...

I want my own. I am in search of my own personal list of women who I am willing to put on a pedestal and revere. I adopted one just a few years ago: Margaret Cho. This comic devastates me. She can make me laugh and on a turn of a dime, break my heart.

You'll find a link to her blog there. Read it and have your mind blown.

Another heroine of mine is Amanda Palmer of the band The Dresden Dolls.
I put a link to her blog over in my "Links - Music" section on the right. I dare you to read it and NOT fall in love.
Their new album is out and it's called "Yes, Virginia" and it is what music is supposed to be: emotional, provocative, layered Art (capital "A"). They call it "Punk Caberet". I call it delicious.
Thank me later.

I've always been amused by this myself. Strangely, do you notice how often our choices match part of our own personality. Although I have always admired the power of a womans defined, direct, and deliberate personality, to me it is never as strong as the sensitve, loving, and caring open heart of a big man.

As for me, I've always been fond of Drew Barrymore. Her free spirit , sense of humor, spontaneousness, all wrapped in a tough package from having grown up too fast combined with a ready to take on the world attitude is remarkable. I love most of her movies, especially "Ever After".

I love her too, more in a "little sister" kinda way. I think she has the type of personality that my own younger sister has, and I am always trying to make her laugh and be goofy and tease her. I can and have watched all her movies, but must admit that my faves are with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates".
