Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk
- Rufus Wainwright

Cigarettes and chocolate milk
These are just a couple of my cravings
Everything it seems I likes a little bit stronger
A little bit thicker, a little bit harmful for me

If I should buy jellybeans
Have to eat them all in just one sitting
Everything it seems I likes a little bit sweeter
A little bit fatter, a little bit harmful for me

And then theres those other things
Which for several reasons we wont mention
Everything about em is a little bit stranger, a little bit harder
A little bit deadly

Its not very smart
Tends to make one part
So brokenhearted

Sitting here remembering me
Always been a shoe made for the city
Go ahead accuse me of just singing about places
With scrappy boys faces have general run of the town

Playing with prodigal sons
Take a lot of sentimental valiums
Cant expect the world to be your raggedy andy
While running on empty you little old doll with a frown

You got to keep in the game
Retaining mystique while facing forward
I suggest a reading of lesson in tightropes
Or surfing your high hopes or adios kansas

Its not very smart
Tends to make one part
So brokenhearted

Still theres not a show on my back
Holes or a friendly intervention
Im just a little bit heiress, a little bit irish
A little bit tower of pisa
Whenever I see ya
So please be kind if Im a mess

Cigarettes and chocolate milk
Cigarettes and chocolate milk
-thanks to Sam

Chaylene: Nope, I was completely oblivious to this artist and his work until Sam at wwww.deskfullofclutter.blogspot.com
pointed it out at right about the time when he outed himself on his blog. In fact, you can find a youtube clip of Rufus singing this at a piano during a concert of his at Sam's blog.

For what it's worth, Rufus has just released a cd of Judy Garland tunes. SO not my cuppa tea, but I'm going to look into more of his back catalogue because I find him VERY talented and his story quite interesting.

Never saw "The Last Kiss", by the way. Good movie?

Thank you so much, Jimmy, for all the nice words. Your comment at Sue's place as well as your comment here have been really touching.

When I saw the video I was in a place between marriage issues and realizing I was so tired of burying what I knew was true. I absolutely swooned watching Rufus do this song and realized I really only had one good choice.

Thank you!
